Home

Ford Farm lies on the shores of Larne Lough a haven for much wildlife, but in particular birds. At low tide the mud flats are an important feeding ground for many waterfowl, and acts as a valuable 'pit stop' for migratory birds. The lough is designated an international RAMSAR site and an ASSI (Area of Special Scientific Interest).  With Swan Island, on the lough, classified as a SPA (Special Protection Area).

Depending on the time of year you will be able to see Brent geese, Greylag geese, ducks - including widgeon and shelduck, all kinds of waders, herons and swans from our shore. You may even glimpse the arctic terns which nest on Swan Island.
